Lingue e Sport 2008
On Monday I started my second year teaching at Lingue e Sport, a two- week program for kids. We teach them three hours of languages in the morning and in the afternoon they got a huge sports program.
I am soooooooo lucky!! I asked for the English class this year and got them! I got eight kids, who are all very very well behaved and interested in learning English. It is basically a breeze going through three hours there. Last year I taught German at Lingue e Sport and got 18 students, among them three brats who in the end were kicked out of the program for smoking drugs and other stunts.
Tomorrow we're going on the all-day trip to Osogna. I'm also happy with that, because last year we went up into the mountains where it was freezing cold. There's a waterfall at Osogna and since we're asked to bring our swimsuits, I think we're going to go swimming in the afternoon! How cool is that?
Speaking of English- I also got a long letter and a beautiful foto from Caitlin!
On the sad side of life- I gave up a Paul Simon concert to help my apartment-mate's family with the party at Vigera. Well, it wasn't so sad after all. It's only that Beth would kill me if she knew... :P Anyway, it was for a good cause- we sold tickets for a lottery and thus gained some money to restaurate(?) the church. I also sold quite a few tickets to the monk who usually does the mass at Vigera.
Anyway, I'm heading off to the lake now. Poor Sylvana and Olli, when they were here, it rained quite a bit. But we managed to squeeze in some time at the lake when the sun was shining.

I temporali

Ohhhh, so schoen!

Back at Bellinzona!!
After four days at Vigera I'm now back with the little one, who at the moment ist peacefully suckling at her bottle of milk. We have read two books, played hide and seek, played princesses, have listened to music and she has rearanged my room. She has also told me all her new words!!
Yesterday I received a long letter from my ex-roomie Anke. She has worked as an au pair in Ohio some years ago and enjoyed it a lot.
Then last night I went to my Italian class and after class we went out for coffee at the pizzeria nearby like we usually do. There's the possibility of going skiing next weekend with Dimitri and his family.
I still haven't heard from my best friend Danny but my Dad has written and will arrive the first weekend in February.
Meanwhile the secretary of my prof has written that she's no longer working at the English Seminar and doesn't know about my diploma. Daiiiiiii!!
Well, the little bug has finished her bottle and wants some attention. Gotta go!!!

La Neve
Snow, snow, snoooooooooooow!!! Yes, it's true, there's snow!! Almost half a meter of snow in the mountains!! After spending Friday and Saturday at Zurigo with two friends from the South of Italy (fotos in Zurigo) we returned to Bellinzona Sunday to see the mercato natale (fotos in Bellinzona) and then took the train from Bellinzona to Faido, climbing 1300 meter by foot at dusk. It was an awesome climb although we had to haul all of the stuff up the mountain that we use here, clothes, food, etc. It felt like a dream, the lights shining on the snow, the forest crispy cold, the air heavy with the profumo of snow. And then today we went on a walk (fotos in Vigera) playing in the snow, taking in the last rays of sunshine (that phrase has become such a joke...) And after that hot cocoa, biscotti, a warm fire and candelight... life is awesome!!!

Stamattina
