Poor kitten!
Some days ago my kitten was bitten by a grown cat and he cried all night with pain. He is doing much better now only that there's a bump on his side that's not going down. I'm worried that he has a broken rip. The bite is infected and we're going to the vet again today. He also still has a cold that's never really gone away so we might start with antibiotics now.
I can only support studies that show that kittens should stay with their moms until they are three months old. They won't get sick as much. In our case they had already separated all the kittens from their mom so we didn't get to choose about the timing.
On the other hand he has a real strong relationship with us now, he is very, very attached, always searching body contact and he seems an extremely "happy" cat, full of life and joy. He is also very courageous, almost too courageous as he wouldn't have gotten bitten if he hadn't been so brave. The first time he saw a dog that was five times bigger than him, he walked up to that dog's face and sniffed his nose!!!
He also always wants to go outside and last week I already found him behind the fence in the neighbor's yard!! Fortunately the neighbors are all very cat-friendly, they know his name and play with him. However, there is a beautiful cat a couple of houses down the road who, I think, would definitely defend her territory, so we hesitate letting him outside all by himself, especially after he got bitten!
